The SBE student team won 3rd place in the international competition “The 18th Economix: Global Economic Challenges” organized by the University of Indonesia. This year, 18th Economix carries the big theme “A Repercussion of Ignorance” and divided into 4 series of events: Seminar, Economix Model United Nations (Economix MUN), Paper Competition, and Mini Essay Competition. The paper competition is an English-based in-pair competition that hones their ability to work in teams and can master various aspects of the economy. The series of Paper Competition events began with the making of a policy recommendation paper entitled “Renewable Energy Development for A Sustainable Development in Indonesia”, presenting these results, participating in debates on the given topic, and conducting a 12-hour research presentation on Brazil Deforestation. By completing the entire series of competitions, they managed to get 3rd place and compete with the University of Indonesia (1st place) and the University of Melbourne (2nd place).
This competition increases their awareness that cooperation requires mutual support and trust among its members. They also learn that until they try, they won’t know what can and can’t be done.
