Petrolida Business Case Competition 2021 is an international level competition organized by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember. The group resolved cases in the banking industry at a bank under the pseudonym ‘BCC Bank’ during the Covid-19 pandemic.
These cases are increasing in past due and non-performing loans, pressure on liquidity, depressing loan growth, declining net interest margin (NIM) and income fees, capital assessment and risk management, and lastly struggles to allocate a budget fit to uncertain future. for the semifinals. Meanwhile, for the final, the group adjusts the group’s strategy according to the new case, namely Cicil.co.id which will acquire BCC Bank.
On this occasion, the Kaizen Team, which was mentored by Mr. Ari Ardianto, Mrs. Evita Kusumawati, and Mrs. Erica Lukas, won 1st place by defeating the University of Indonesia in 2nd place and UCSI University Malaysia in 3rd position. Students who joined the Kaizen Team were: Kirine Floria Budianto – Branding 2018 Verren – Finance and Banking 2018 Fernando Nathanael – Renewable Energy Engineering 2018.
The lessons that the group learned were analyzing problems that occur in the banking industry and the right way following OJK and BI regulations to implement various strategies in overcoming problems faced in the financial industry, especially banking. Groups are required to be critical, creative, but still feasible in describing the analysis of existing problems and solutions.
The group was also challenged to calculate profit, cost of funds, and ROI for all the group’s solutions. Indirectly, the group also improves soft skills through this competition, namely skills in presentation and communication using English.
