The Center for Indonesian Nationality Studies (PSKI) of Prasetiya Mulya University is an integral part of Prasetiya Mulya university that specifically deals with Indonesian nationality. Structurally, PSKI is directly under the coordination of the Rector of Prasetiya Mulya University. This study center was established through the Decree of the Rector of Prasetiya Mulya University No. 0/2/01.01/1650/10/2020 on the Establishment of the Center for Nationality Studies of Prasetiya Mulya University on October 15th, 2020.
PSKI is a concrete manifestation of the initial commitment of Prasetiya Mulya University which is to promote the spirit of nationality based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution for all academicians, students, faculty members, and professional staff. The commitment is explicitly stated in the Articles of Association of Prasetiya Mulya Foundation, especially on Foundation Activities, namely: “To make a real contribution to the realization of national development of the entire Indonesian nation in accordance with the ideals contained in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia which is imbued with Pancasila” (article 3 point 1). In other words, service to the nation is the raison d’etre of the establishment of Prasetiya Mulya Foundation.
In addition, PSKI is also rooted in the basic values of Prasetiya Mulya University, namely CHAIN (Caring, Humility, Achievement, Integrity, and Non-discrimination). These values are none other than the operational form of Prasetiya Mulya Foundation’s duties, namely: “Helping the creation and growth of national harmony and solidarity between all groups and layers of the nation on the basis of mutual understanding, tolerance, respect, and mutual assistance” (Foundation Articles of Association, article 3 point 5).
In line with these values, there is also one of the principles of good university governance referred to as the “Presence Principle” as stated in the Statute of Prasetiya Mulya University article 13 on University Governance. This principle emphasizes the presence of the university as part of the national movement, to contribute to the progress of a plural Indonesia based on Pancasila, with a focus on the progress of the business world. In this regard, Prasetiya Mulya University has the responsibility to contribute to inclusive progress through the dissemination of entrepreneurship and business management practices to a wider audience, including village development and the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as encouraging business innovation. In carrying out this role, PSKI is present to strengthen the realization of the principle of university presence in the community.
PSKI also takes full part in actualizing one of the missions of Prasetiya Mulya University, namely “Organizing education in Business, Applied STEM, and Law and International Studies with a student centered and high quality learning process to develop business leaders and professionals who excel in their fields, have dignity, ethics and respect for diversity, and contribute greatly to the development of the nation and state of Indonesia”.
Therefore, PSKI is to maintain these values and commitments so that they are maintained, not faded by the development and changes of the times. But at the same time, it is also PSKI’s duty to adapt it to the times so that the mandate of the Foundation’s Articles of Association is fulfilled to ‘carry out socio-economic and other socio-cultural activities in accordance with the needs of the community’ (article 3 point 7).
