What is AACSB accreditation?

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is recognized as the world’s oldest international accreditation body for business schools. Established in 1916 by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business, AACSB was founded to develop and promote quality standards in business education.

As of 2026, only approximately 6 percent of business schools worldwide have earned AACSB accreditation.

AACSB is a means for SBE (School of Business and Economics), to further strengthen the quality of business education implementation based on internationally recognized standards.

AACSB is an indicator of quality that addresses the school’s commitment to innovating in the development of business practices in order to produce business leaders. With accreditation, the quality of school graduates will be more Internationally qualified.

For companies and business organizations, AACSB further strengthens the added value and competitiveness of school graduates because they have superior quality both in soft skills and hard skills.

AACSB Timeline

AACSB Accredited

As part of the AACSB accreditation process, the SBE Dean’s Office established an AACSB Task Force (GKM) consisting of one faculty member serving as Chair and twelve selected faculty members. The GKM was responsible not only for preparing accreditation documents such as the Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER), Progress Reports, and the Final Self-Evaluation Report (SER), but also for coordinating and collaborating with various units at both the University and School levels, particularly with SBE’s Quality Assurance Unit (UPM). Following the AACSB Peer Review Team (PRT) visit in September 2025, SBE successfully obtained AACSB accreditation in February 2026 for six study programs:

  1. Doctoral Program in Management and Entrepreneurship
  2. Graduate Program in Management
  3. Undergraduate Program in Accounting
  4. Undergraduate Program in Economy
  5. Undergraduate Program in Management
  6. Undergraduate Program in Tourism

In 2024, SBE received a grant from the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia. Through the “Study Program Development Assistance Initiative for Meeting International Quality Standards”, SBE was awarded a grant of IDR 296,000,000. The funding was utilized to support preparations for the AACSB pre-visit and final visit, including internal workshops featuring speakers from Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Indonesia, focus group discussions with alumni and industry representatives, and a series of AACSB socialization events involving SBE internal stakeholders, including faculty members, professional staff, and students.

During the preparation of the final Self-Evaluation Report (SER), the Dean’s Office, together with the AACSB Task Force (GKM) and SBE Quality Assurance Unit (UPM) conducted two intensive workshops in 2024.
