The start of the even semester of the 2022 – 2023 academic year marks the beginning of the Business Mathematics Study Program’s Co-op curriculum, where 37 students from its 2021 class are starting their internship period. These students are embarking on their work-integrated learning period, which is also known as the cooperative education program

The work-integrated learning curriculum is an adaptation of a similar program at the University of Waterloo, Canada, which has been a partner of Universitas Prasetiya Mulya since 2016. At Prasetiya Mulya itself, the curriculum has been running for five years, starting with the School of STEM, specifically, the Business Mathematics 2017 class. This program, which incorporates experiential learning and industrial learning elements in two full semesters (one study period), encourages the students to work in industries of their preference. The main objective of this program is that students will develop complete skill sets through practical knowledge, business understanding, solutions, and teamwork.

Since the first Co-op batch in 2017, there have been 2 batches of graduates with a total of 193 Co-op students (with a gender ratio of 1:1). Those students worked for 22 Prasmul’s partners in 18 different types of industry. The top 3 industries are finance/insurance, e-commerce, and technology.

Initiated by the Business Mathematics study program, now the Product Design Engineering Study Program, and the Software Engineering Study Program have also started the Co-op Program. In fact, half of the STEM Graduate Award winners at the Universitas Prasetiya Mulya graduation procession in December 2022 were once Co-op students.

All Co-op students constantly have packed and busy study period because they fully utilize their time during regular and short semesters. However, the experiences they gain from the Co-op program opportunity truly brush up their skill sets and equip them with distinct achievements that they will absolutely need for the real world after college life. More than 90% of graduates with a Co-op background are ensured good career paths after completing their undergraduate studies.

We are extremely proud of Co-op students from School of STEM’s achievements!

We wish a big success for this Co-op cycle!
