The government of Japan awarded honors to three Indonesian figures for their contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan on Wednesday, November 8, at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan. One of the figures honored is Dr. Noer Hassan Wirajuda, the Dean of the School of Law and International Studies (SHSI) at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, who received the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun from Emperor Naruhito.

This award was granted as the Japanese government recognized Dr. Noer Hassan Wirajuda for enhancing the relationship between the two countries into a Strategic Partnership and successfully realizing it.

The Order of the Rising Sun Gold and Silver Star award was also given to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Mochamad Basuki Hadimuljono, and The Order of the Rising Sun Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon was conferred upon Professor Djodjok Soepardjo from the University of Surabaya.

Emperor Naruhito expressed his gratitude to all the award recipients in his speech. “I received this award directly from the Emperor of Japan. He directly thanked for the close cooperation between Indonesia and Japan. I also believe that in the future, the relationship between the two countries will broaden with a stronger foundation,” said the former Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, as reported by Kompas.com.
